Monday Classes
This is NOT a drop-off program, children need to be accompanied by an adult, and that adult is to stay in the building or on the grounds while the child is in class.
- Diverse and Inclusive Collaborative Education offers community members three (3) terms of homeschool enrichment classes per year that are held at the East Olive Community Center. Classes are on Mondays from 10-4, run in 8-week terms and average $20 per class for the 8-week term. Families may sign up for as few or as many classes as their schedule allows.
- Class offerings change each term. Our class schedule depends on teacher/parent availability. We build the best schedule we can based on what parents are willing to teach, who is available when, and what classes will fit into which rooms because we have a variety of rooms (tables, no tables, large, small, carpet/no-carpet, etc).
- In the past, we have offered Drama, Baking, Competitive Games, French, Spanish, American Sign Language, Geo-caching, Michigan History, Highland Dance, American Girl History, Forensic Science, Karate, Cake Decorating, Dissection, Vikings, Medieval History, Physics, Chemistry, Creative Writing, Spelling Games, Photography, Color Guard, Drama/Theatre, and Gameschooling. You can view a sample of the Fall 2022 Class Schedule here.

- Classes are taught by parents and outside community members. Parents who also teach receive access to early registration to ensure their children have classes to attend during the time they are teaching. If you are interested in teaching a class please contact teachersupport@dicemichigan.org.
- We hold a volunteer registration every term. People who volunteer to help three hours out of the day get priority registration and may register for the entire day if they wish. Available positions to fill are Teacher Assistant and Hall Monitor. Volunteers get to register after teachers but before open registration.
- While classes are running, we gather in the front lounge, hallways, or playground where we can visit with other families. We have an additional space we use as a lunch room. There is a playground on site as well as a large outdoor area for play. You can bring lunch and use the refrigerator or microwave on-site as needed.
We do ask that no peanut or tree nut products be brought to Monday Classes in order to reduce the chance of allergic reactions. There is no way that we can prevent exposure, but we do our best to limit it.
About the Registration Process
Capacity, Waitlist, and Teaching Assistants
- If a class is full, you will have the option to be put on a waitlist. Please do this so we are able to notify you if a spot opens up. Enrollment is a flowing process, so please be patient!
- Once a class fills we work with parents/teachers to add extra volunteers to open up class capacity whenever we are able. You may enroll for a different class in the same time period as the full class and we will transfer your registration if your waitlist spot opens up.
- For example, a teacher may have a max capacity of 6 students but may go up to 18 with two teaching assistants. If a teaching assistant hasn't been assigned to the class, we will reach out to parents on the waitlist to see if they want to assist in order to open up the additional capacity available.
Class Descriptions and Details
Class Descriptions are provided on the registration page with more details about each class, what the registration fee is, if there is an extra material fee, and an email link to ask teachers questions.
Refund Policy
- Please remember when deciding to withdraw from a class, there is a good chance there are other participants on a waitlist and the sooner someone withdraws the more opportunity we have to open that spot to someone else.
- Participants may withdraw from class or make changes to their enrollment up to the class start date. A credit will remain on the account to be used toward a future enrollment. If participant opts to not receive a credit and would like a refund in the original form of payment, the following terms apply:
- If refund is requested prior to class start date, 100% of the class fee will be refunded minus a $5.00 service charge.
- If a refund is requested after the class start date, but before the 2nd week of class, 75% of the class fee will be refunded minus a $5.00 service charge.
- Withdrawals made on or after the date of the 2nd class are non-refundable nor will they qualify for any form of credit.
FAQ
- What if my child falls outside the age range but I would still like to register them?
- Age ranges listed are recommendations, if you feel like your child would be a good fit for the class please reach out to the teacher (click their name and it links to their email) to get permission to join and email info@dicemichigan.org and request an override to complete registration.
- Can my child's therapist join them in class?
- We are supportive of accommodating everyone as much as we can. Please reach out to the teacher for each class to get permission (click their name and it links to their email). There are times when the additional therapy occurring during class is disruptive to the rest of the class so we want to be sure that the Teacher, Parent, and Therapist are in direct communication to ensure a smooth class for everyone involved.
